About/Acerca de

Todays guest speaker Catriona Sandilands, will interact with participants in a question answer format. Catriona Sandilands is a Canadian writer and scholar in the environmental humanities. She is most well known for her conception of queer ecology. She is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University. She was a Canada Research Chair in Sustainability and Culture between 2004 and 2014.

Transformative Conservation theory and practice aids organizations and individuals in achieving both inner and outer transformation. Inner transformation refers to how we relate to each other and other species and outer transformation is about changing our society and economy so it is more just and where all can flourish.  This is no easy or quick fix, and realizing the challenges for people as individuals and in conservation projects to change can be daunting. For this reason we will gather every month to learn about Transformative Conservation, parrot conservation in general, and support one another in how we can lead transformative change in our daily lives and projects. Cutting edge topics and papers will be reviewed. This is brought to you by One Earth Conservation’s Parrot Conservation Corps that has led 3 year-long courses in Transformative Conservation.  We will meet on Saturdays at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.
